HIV
infection emerges in three stages. The first stage
is seroconversion (a period of
time where HIV antibodies have
started evolving to resist viruses.). The second
stage is the period when
no symptoms appear. And the third stage is HIV
infection turned into AIDS.
The First Stage
People who
are infected with the HIV virus will
suffer pain similar to flu. After this, HIV does not
cause any symptoms for several years. This flu-like symptom will show up a
few weeks after being infected. It is this period that
is often referred to as seroconversion.
It is estimated,
about 8 out of 10 people with HIV experience. The
most common symptoms are:
- · Throat pain
- · Fever
- · Body rash appears it is usually not itchy
- · Swelling of lymphatic staining
- · Weight loss
- · Diarrhea
- · Fatigue
- · Painful joints
- · Muscle pain
The
above symptoms can persist for one to
two months, or even longer. This is a harbinger of the
immune system is being against the virus. But, these
symptoms could be caused by a disease other
than HIV. This condition is not solely because of
the HIV-infected.
Do HIV
testing if you feel at risk of being infected or
when appearing the symptoms mentioned
above. But keep in mind, not all people experience the
same symptoms as
mentioned above. If felt had done something that
made you risk infected, go to the
nearest hospital or clinic to undergo HIV testing.
The Second Stage
After the
initial symptoms disappear, usually HIV doesn't
cause further symptoms for many years. This period is
referred to as the incubation period
or latent period. The existing virus continues to
spread and damage the immune system. In this step, you will
feel healthy and there is no problem. We may not be aware
of already contracted HIV, but we can
already transmit this infection to other
people. Long stages this could run about 10
years or even more.
The third
stage or the last stage of HIV infection
If left untreated,
HIV weakens the body's ability in
fighting infection. With this condition, you will be
more susceptible to serious illness. The final
stage is more commonly known as AIDS (Acquired Immune
Deficiency Syndrome). The following are symptoms that
appear on the last stage of HIV infection:
- Staining lymphatic or lymph nodes swell in the neck and groin.
- A fever that lasts more than 10 days.
- Feeling exhausted almost every time.
- Sweating at night.
- Weight down without a known cause.
- Purple spots on the skin are not lost.
- Shortness of breath.
- Diarrhea that is severe and ongoing.
- Yeast infection in the mouth, throat, or vagina.
- Easy bruising or bleeding without cause.
The risk of
developing deadly diseases will increase at this
stage. For example, cancer,
tuberculosis, and pneumonia. But despite this deadly
disease, treatment of HIV can still be done. Handling it
early can help improve health.
